Maeghan's Story....
Breast Cancer Survivor and170 pounds GONE!

My name is Maeghan. I am a 43 year old mother of three boys (my 22 year old stepson, and my two boys ages 16 and 7). I’ve been married to my husband Chris for almost 19 years. I have struggled with obesity and, if I’m being honest, food addiction, since childhood. I just decided that must be all that was in the cards for me. I would just have to accept I was just always going to be in the morbidly obese section of the BMI chart, right?
When I turned 40 I was just ecstatic to learn that in addition to my regularly scheduled maintenance I should also start getting mammograms. Imagine my shock to learn a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy later that I had invasive ductal carcinoma (cancer).
It was at that moment when the reality of my own mortality was looming in my head that I decided to completely overhaul my lifestyle.
I made small, gradual changes and most importantly, I didn’t stop showing up for myself every single day. I learned to be okay with not getting instant results, to treat this as a marathon, not a sprint, and to finally realize that the key to results is consistency.
There’s been days when showing up for myself looked like hitting more than my step goal, being in a calorie deficit, and slaying it in the gym. But there’s also days when showing up for myself looks like just getting through the day and that’s okay.
I found Kelli Cremeans, NP through a recommendation from a friend when I was looking for help getting started. I felt defeated after years and years of the weight loss roller coaster. I was weighing in on my scale at 326 pounds and don’t even know how I got there.
But Kelli gave me hope. I was so impressed with how well she communicated with me as a patient, how she worked to get me access to the resources I needed, and how she followed up along this journey and was genuinely excited with each goal I met. I am immensely grateful for providers like Kelli, preventative care, early detection, and that three years later not only do I remain cancer free, but I’m also 170 lbs. down and in sizes I never imagined I would see.
Nothing is impossible with hard work and determination. I promise you if I can do this, you can too!!
